MyCalbridgeExperience
My wife and I are empty nesters who, after the young 'uns left home, decided to buy a new house in Cochrane, Alberta. We moved into our new Calbridge-built home in April, 2019. My wife is an amazing floral designer while I've had a rather different professional life than most people. As a very young man I was an apprentice carpenter but working with concrete forms all my life was not appealing. I worked in a shingle factory in Calgary for several years where I learned not only how asphalt shingles are made but I also learned about machinery maintenance and how to get machines working together. While there I attended the North American Air Training College and finished with a Commercial Pilot License with Class I Group I IFR ratings as well as an instructor's rating. Lucky me decided to do that in the early '80's just as airlines were going from three person cockpits to two person cockpits so no jobs were available. Lots of pilots were out of work. In my early 30's I went to the UofC and got an engineering degree which wound up taking me all over the world. Now I am a retired engineer who, unable to sit still, got a Class 1 driver's license and now drives professionally for a transportation company known worldwide. I'm having a lot of fun and I've gotten to know many of my clients very well.
I moved to Calgary from Whitehorse with my parents when I was just nine years old. I've been in the Calgary area since 1967 and I think I know the area fairly well now. My wife came to Canada in 2007 from Shenzhen, China which is a very crowded city next door to Hong Kong. We decided to move to Cochrane as a compromise between my dislike of crowded cities and her wants to be close to all the amenities that a big city has to offer. We both love Cochrane and we both love where we live. Our neighbours are absolutely fantastic!
